Learn Hao To Play the Piano in 10 Minutes

At age of 40, Jeff, the oil company executive, tried to learn to play a small song on the Casio keyboard that he bought for his children. He quickly went on to play many original works of Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Elton John, Billy Joe, John Lennon, and Jay Chou … all because he built a notation system that anyone can read immediately. The patented Hao Staff (named after him and referenced against the traditional Grand Staff music notation) is now already used by thousands of people.

A Language Made Of Music

You might have heard of Esperanto, an language that’s supposed to be internationally accessible. You probably haven’t heard of Solresol, a language entirely based on music. Its creator was an idealist, and hoped that he could unite all humankind with a universally accessible language built on something we all know: music. Solresol combines the do-re-me syllables used for teaching music into two-, three-, and four-syllable words, grouped into categories of similar words. Because there are only seven syllables, the language easily translates to hand signals.

A Brief History of Jazz

Jazz is one of those music genres that you either love or hate. Some have categorized it into “elevator music”, which doesn’t do justice to the lively jazz on the other side of the spectrum.   And indeed, there is a subgenre of jazz called freestyle that is most famous for its improvisational nature. Regardless of whether you are a traditional jazz fan, this uniquely American style of music has impacted popular music that we play even today.

The genre finds its roots in southern blues and the songs slaves sang while working.  Since the 1920’s jazz has come a long way both in quality and complexity. At first, in the so-called ragtime era, the go-to instrument for jazz musicians was a piano. However, that didn’t last for too long and musicians started to incorporate other orchestral instruments like trumpets, guitars, contrabasses, etc. Jazz even made its way into other music genres like hip-hop and rap.

The evolution of different subgenres of jazz has brought about the musical depth American musicians produce today.

He has also garnered 46 patents on optoelectronics and even wrote a Ph.D. thesis called “Semiconductor Lasers: New Geometries and Spectral Properties.” But in 2001, Lang left his job in order to pursue a passion he’s had since childhood: origami. In the origami world, Lang is now a legend, and it’s not just his eye-catching, intricate designs that have taken the craft by storm.
